Thai massage is a very ancient practice; it dates back 2,500 years to India and has deep roots in Buddhism and Chinese and Thai medicine, using the principles of yoga and Ayurveda. Presence and meditation are the foundation of this practice.
Historically, Buddhistmonks practiced Thai massage in temples as part of their Vipassana meditation, helping them attain a clear and peaceful mind. That is why it is such a deep and relaxing experience, and something completely different from a classical massage.
There is a sensation of clarity for the receiver, achieved through a very precise touch. The techniques used are mainly acupressure, compression, rocking, and stretching.
The body feels very held and supported because there is constant physical contact between the receiver and the giver. The practitioner uses not only hands or arms, like in a common massage, but the whole body: thumbs, palms, elbows, knees, and feet.
A big part of the massage consists of clearing “sens,” also called “energy lines” or “internal energy pathways,” so that energy can flow more easily throughout the body. This process of restoration helps bring vitality back.
The massage takes place on a futon (a mat on the floor) in the traditional Asian style, which helps you feel grounded and fully relaxed throughout the session.
Please wear loose and flexible clothing. You will feel more comfortable, and the techniques can be applied more easily.
OsteoThai was created by David Lutt and Arno L’Hermitte, two French osteopaths in love with Thai massage. This approach adds layers that are often missing in traditional Thai massage: joint mobilization, fascial release, and craniosacral work. A gentle touch, rather than force, is always present.
OsteoThai can be especially helpful if you feel stressed, struggle to sleep, feel blocked or low in energy, feel stiff, or would like to release muscle tension and improve mobility in your joints.
Many people experience a deep sense of relaxation, lightness, and more space in their body. It can also improve flexibility, stimulate blood circulation and the lymphatic system, support the internal organs, and encourage a healthier posture.
